Alaska Village Initiatives is now preparing for our 24th Annual rural small Business Conference. It will be held at the Anchorage Sheraton Hotel on February 10, 11 and 12, 2015. This year's theme is "Educate for Opportunity" and we will focus our workshops and gatherings accordingly.

The 23rd annual conference was a great success, we had 46 Marketplace Exhibitors in attendance and they were able to meet and visit with all registered participants from rural Alaska. We anticipate yet another successful event, we look forward to seeing you there!

Alaska Village Initiatives, a self-supporting corporation organized in 1968 by and for Rural Alaskans, promotes the economic well-being of Rural Alaskans though economic development, assistance, networking, advocacy, and education.

Through the wisdom of our elders, the dreams of our youth and the vision of our parents, we embrace our cultures and strengthen our economies.

AVI is a non-profit membership-based company dedicated to improving the well-being of rural Alaska communities, families, and individuals. Formerly known as Community Enterprise Development Corporation of Alaska, the corporation was formed in 1968 to create new economic activities in distressed communities.

Our organization has come a long way from 1968 when our first project was to finance a small co-op store housed in a log cabin in Manokotak. Alaska Village Initiatives now has over 170 member organizations, which in turn represent more then 50,000 rural Alaskans, and is controlled by a 21-member Board of Directors representing rural communities and organizations from across the state.
